15 February 2008 - Separating Aberdeen and Angus

It is quite clear, as this press article from the Canberra Times in late 1996 shows, Greg
was well aware of the two 'types' that made up todays 'Angus', Lowlines included.  Since
the Broken Arrow dispersal in 2000 when he started the Erica Project, Greg has been
refining his views and opinions on the origin and survival of the Erica Angus-type.

As Greg starts to share his thoughts and writes more, we will be adding to the
information contained in this site, and advising of the new and revised content here.  You
can read more on 'Greg's Latest Thoughts'  [
LINK DISABLED  14 Jan 2010]page, or on
the page devoted to the
genetic make up of Linebred Erica Angus.
17 February 2008 - Linebreeding on 5BarX

Of the numerous cattle discussion boards and Yahoo Groups devoted to cattle, the 5BarX
site is one of the more active and stimulating.  It also has a discussion forum devoted to
'breeding systems' moderated by Mike Keeney, from
Keeney Angus, Kentucky. The forum
provides a place to "discuss Cross-Breeding, Linebreeding, and any other breeding
systems" and is a logical place for us to provide information about the LBE Project.

You can register to contribute or just read the discussions as a guest. There are currently
778 users registered and almost 17,000 articles.
Highly Recommended.
20 February 2008 - In the News

I have added a new section to the site, called "In the News".  My intention is to feature
current articles available online that either support the premises that underpin the
Linebred Erica Project, that are related to the efficient beef production or that I otherwise
find interesting.  In a small way this will carry on the tradition started by Greg and his
brother with LOWLINE:
ONLINE - the world's first breed specific Internet newsletter.

I shall also add my two-cents worth from time to time when the spirit moves me -
Jack :-)
21 May 2008 - Breed Development Plan

Welcome Back Greg!!!

Greg is due to return "Fernleigh" around mid-July 2008.  He is currently recuperating in
Flinders Island Base Hospital and is getting back into the swing of things.
BEESTS -
Blueprint for Ecologically and Economically Sustainable Trait Selection - a Breed
Development Plan for Linebred Erica cattle is his latest  iteration of his breed
development plan.
